About Ain Shams University

From Cairo, Egypt to Chicago, IL it is 6148 miles (9894 km) (5343 nautical miles), as the crow flies. [i]

Following the War of 1948, which Egypt lost to Israel, Colonel Gamal Abdul Nasser founded the furtive revolutionary Free Officers Movement (“FOM”). FOM was committed to removing the Egyptian monarchy together with its British advisors. Nasser formed a coordinating committee (1949), of which he was declared head (1950). Of the nine men who had constituted themselves as the Committee of the Free Officers Movement and led the 1952 Revolution, Lieutenant Colonel Gamal Abdel Nasser and Lieutenant Colonel Anwar El-Sadat, are perhaps the most well-known.

On July 23, 1952, General Muhammad Naguib led the Free Officers Movement (”FOM”) in the overthrow of the King of Egypt, Farouk. Purportedly, Nasser was the real power behind the coup.

Nasser, promoted the destruction of Israel. On May 23, 1967, he closed the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping and blockaded the Israeli port of Eilat. This was Israel's only access to the Indian Ocean. Nasser recruited Jordan and Syria to join him in united Arab action against Israel. He declared, "The battle will be a general one and our basic objective will be to destroy Israel."

Instead, Israel's offensive in the Six Day War routed the Arab states. Nasser died of a heart attack on September 28, 1970. He was succeeded by Anwar Sadat.

Sadat had a connection to Ain Shams as you will soon see. It was the last connection of his life.

Established in July 1950, Ain Shams University, is the third oldest university in Egypt. It was originally founded under the name of "Ibrahim Pasha University.”

After the July 23 revolution, Egyptian universities were renamed to associate them with the country’s history. On February 21, 1954 the name of the university was changed to "Heliopolis." Later that year it was again renamed. This time to "Ain Shams", which is Arabic for "Heliopolis", or "O'n", which, according to the Ain Shams website:

“was the oldest university in history. ‘O'n’ University was established about 5000 years ago, and it had a wide fame as a center of knowledge and learning, especially in astronomy, engineering and medicine. Perhaps a perfect example of the knowledge and skill of ‘O'n’ teachers is Imhotep, the chief priest, minister, and architect, who in 2700 B.C. designed the first large structure of stone known in history, Zoser's Step Pyramid in Sakkara. Westcar Papyrus also states that the founder of the Fifth Dynasty was the Rector of ‘O'n’ University before ascending the throne. However, the most important achievement of "O'n" University was the call for worshipping a single deity, the solar disk of Aton, at the hands of Akhenaton, who was influenced by the ideas of ‘O'n’ priests.” [ii]

All seven campuses of Ain Shams University are located in Great Cairo. The Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Nursing together with the university hospitals are at Abassia.

“Being a major scientific and cultural institution, Ain Shams University is fully aware of these challenges and is certain that it has - with other Egyptian Universities - a difficult hard responsibility for the creation of the generation. That is aware and proud of its identity and traditions and is also ready for the creation of a better future for their country. In fact, Ain Shams University has played an undeniable role in developing the cultural and scientific life in Egypt and enriching human knowledge in general.” [iii]

Here is some more about the “identity and traditions” of Ain Shams and the “role in developing the cultural and scientific life in Egypt and enriching human knowledge in general.”

Ain Shams- and Egypt- associated physicians have been involved in behaviors that some, if not many, Westerners would consider unphysician-like.

Ayman al-Zawahiri’s father taught at Ain Shams University Medical School, Dr. Mahmoud al-Zahar, studied there, Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri is Egyptian (as is the origin of the Muslim Brotherhood) and Dr. Fathi `Abd al-`Aziz Shiqaqi, is a physician who studied medicine in Egypt.

Other notable Ain Shams grads or faculty are Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, one-time spiritual leader of Hamas [iv], Mohammed Mahdi Akef, “president” of the Muslim Brotherhood [v], Sheikh Abdul Majeed al-Zindani, co-leader of Yemen’s al-Islah party [vi], Imam [vii] Aly Hindy, “Canada's most controversial Muslim cleric [viii]” and Hesham Mohamed Hadayet. [ix] This is not an exhaustive list, of course.

Egyptian medical scholarship has given the world innovative reports on the spread of disease and its vectors [x].

Egypt is also known for its treatment of Christians and Jews: [xi]

“An article in the Egyptian state-owned newspaper al-Akhbar on February 3, 2002 stated:

‘All the evils that currently affect the world are the doings of Zionism. This is not surprising, because the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which were established by their wise men more than a century ago, are proceeding according to a meticulous and precise plan and time schedule, and they are proof that even though they are a minority, their goal is to rule the world and the entire human race.’

In November 2002, Egypt, despite being bound by a 1979 treaty preventing 'incitement' against Israel, allowed their state-owned television network to produce A Horseman Without a Horse (Fares Bela Gewad), a 41 part ‘historical drama’ largely based on the Protocols, which ran on Egyptian television as well as numerous Arabic satellite television stations for a month.” [xii] [xiii]

Regarding Christians, some info is available here as the "Manifesto - Tragedies and Suffering of Egypt 's Copts" and here.

[xiii] The Protocols of the (Learned) Elders of Zion is a fraudulent document purporting to describe a plan to achieve Jewish global domination. Written by Mathieu Golovinski, a Russian operative of Tsar Nicholas II based on an early work by Maurice Joly linking Napoleon III to Machiavelli. Czar Nicholas was fearful of modernization and protective of his monarchy, ordered the Imperial Russia secret police, the Okhranka to publish it in order to blame the Jews for Russia's problems.
